55 Degrees North

Transformation of a failing 1960's roundabout into a high quality piece of public realm and setting for the refurbished Swan house now 55 Degrees North; a mixed use development including apartments, offices, bar, beauty salon and the local radio station's studios. New connecting and collecting public spaces stitch together city public realm. The objective set for Colour was straightforward but challenging - transform notorious urban dereliction within a roundabout into a premium setting.   The result has been an iconic symbol of the vitality that characterizes the North East of England in the 21st Century. Apartments have sold for over £500,000, the bar is on Newcastle upon Tyne's A-list and the city's commercial radio station has relocated to the mixed-use development.
