Vicki plays a valuable specialist role developing the planting aspect of projects so as to maximise their impact. She perfectly complements fellow design colleagues in the team with her wealth of knowledge from 18 years of garden design and practical gardening having trained in both.
For Vicki, planting plays a vital role that helps people to understand the story of a place, enjoy a space, support nature and enrich the client brief.
Vicki is a highly creative team member and skilled problem-solving in planting design, specification and visualisation founded on a wide range of technical production skills.
Her horticultural knowledge and many years of professional industry practice enable her to communicate and be popular with clients and project teams so as to deliver exciting planting schemes.
In her spare time Vicki likes nothing more than being outside in the great outdoors, riding her bike, taking in nature at its best and trying to fit in time to tend to her own ‘gardener’s garden’.
Amongst many, examples of her work across the UK include :
A new events space at the Fellow’s Garden Durham Castle – a UNESCO World Heritage Site
An outdoor space for the global brand ‘British Airways’
The refurbishment of Enniskillen’s Forum Leisure Centre in a new public park
The gardens of Paragraph 84 dwellings with their extremely high design requirements
Multiple health and educational gardens, so important for stress reduction, aiding the healing process and improving children’s behaviour
As a Planting Designer at Colour, I feel appreciated for my specialism and I’m extremely lucky to work in a subject that I love.
The wide variety of projects present a range of challenges and mean that I’m constantly learning - each one is unique.
